Give hope to children and support our learning centre

MUSTADAFIN FOUNDATION SPOKESPERSON

THE MUSTADAFIN Foundation is a nongovernmental organisation (NGO) that has, for the past 35 years, been actively involved and working across the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Zimbabwe to enhance and develop destitute communities.

Established on 1986, the foundation prides itself in improving the living conditions of human beings through education, disaster relief, community development and poverty alleviation.

Mustadafin’s Learning Centre was established five years ago, after discovering a thousand children in Tafelsig were not placed in mainstream schools due to learning challenges, lack of birth certificates, parents afflicted by substance abuse and child-headed homes. Through the programme, we have placed more than 496 learners into mainstream schools – 27 matriculants, 20 into tertiary institutes and more than 200 children have been registered with birth certificates.

The foundation provides three meals a day, intervention programmes such as early childhood development (ECD) and school programs to get the children schoolready, as they are not able to read and write. A psychologist and social worker are employed to help deal with the emotional, physical and mental trauma the children face as many come from abusive homes, and have been victims of abuse or are under-nourished or malnourished.

Education is the liberation of our community, and an educated mindset can make educated choices.
